  1. I think I connect with Ben the most because he is really the only boy in the story and I have a lot of the same interests as him. -Luca

    1. That makes sense, Luca. Are there any traits or experiences that either Sal or Phoebe has to which you can relate? What about a character that you don't like?

  2. I think that I identify most with Mary Lou Finney. She is nice, but not too weirdly sweet. She loves her family and friends, and having read Absolutely Normal Chaos, I know that she is weird, but funny.

I identify least with Phoebe because all she is in my opinion is a jerk. Her mom left her, but if she had been nicer, none of this mess would have ever happened.

  3. I feel that I identify with the older brothers of Mary- Lou the most, because they are the most normal characters in the book rom my point of view. They always seem to be happy even in a large family, like the Finny's household.

  5. I don't like Megan because she seems like a gossip girl. I can relate with Sal because she is an only child. And Phoebe because my mom only buys healthy food.

  6. I relate to Sal the most. I can identify with her feelings a lot of the time, and have experienced some of the same loss as her. My two sets of grandparents are a bit like hers, and I feel we have similar dads. I don't relate to Phoebe, as I don't like to judge.

  7. After reading these chapters Mr. Birkaway has a lot of connection with Mrs. Cadaver and Mrs. Partridge. Sal and Phoebe are some of the main characters in the early story but lately they have not been so important. Now in the story Ben and Sal are more of the main characters in chapter 29 30 31 and 32. In these last few chapters A lot more characters are introduced. Sharon Creech wants the reader to know that the characters are some of the main part of the book. -George

  8. I identify with Ben because I don't think twice about my actions in the same way he doesn't think about them. I like him the most because he is secretly brilliant, but doesn't really act like he knows it. I didn't like Phoebe before her mother left because she was obnoxious and arrogant, but now I am starting to see why she is so obnoxious and arrogant.

    1. Great comments, Will. Can you give me an example of how you think Ben is brilliant?

  9. I also agree with you Luca but the only trait from Ben that I do not have a connection with is that Ben likes to draw and be creative on paper. I am am the opposite of that.

  10. I Identify with Sal the most because I keep all cards from my mom and I would go on a trip with my grandparents to find my mother on her birthday. I also identify with sal the most because I always want to get places right on time.

I identify with Pheebe the least because she is so nosey and bossy. Although she really wants to find her mom alot she is too panic because her father know that she just left the house but she is lying to people saying her mom went to London and she tells her dad that she got murderd. I don't Identify with that because I would wait to hear new about my mom and not go around saying she's in London and that she either got murdered or kidnapped.

    1. Good thoughts, Lily. Why do you think Phoebe lies about her mother? What can you say about Phoebe as to why she jumps to the conclusions?

  11. Kate- I connect least with Phoebe. She is so rude, and self-centered. She is very paranoid, and doesn't show respect for other people. For example, she shouldn't have been so rude to the Finney's about cholesterol. They had her for dinner, and she should have eaten the food anyway, and not cause such a fuss. I can't think of anyone I really relate to.

  12. I least identify with Phoebe, because she doesn't "dissect" her problems, meaning she judges off the bat without thinking or understanding. When her mother left her, she assumed she was murdered, and didn't realize how ignorant she was of her mother when she was with the Winterbottom family.

  13. I can't identify with Sal much because Sal has gone through a traumatizing experience whereas I have never. I can connect with Phoebe slightly because I worry, but I'm more optimistic about situations. I can relate to Phoebe because when something hard comes along it's difficult to accept the truth. I do not like Chanhassen because she left her "good" husband and Sal who did nothing to drive her out. It wasn't Sal or Sal's dad's fault for the stillborn. I believe she just hurt her family when she left.

  14. I relate with Phoebe a lot because I'm very defensive of my family and I'm afraid of everybody who looks suspicious. I also have a habit of wanting to be alone a lot.
