I think poetry is a detailed way of maybe telling life stories. I hope to learn how to make the poem end with a distinct feeling after finishing reading it. The thing i fear about poetry is making the poem make sense.
I like poetry because it doesn't have to have to have rules or a strict format like some of our writing. I hope to learn about the different types of poetry, and iambic pentameter. What I fear about poetry is writing some of it. Maggie
I like haikus because they're easy to right. Limericks are interesting but are hard to do. I hope I learn more about less of free verse, and more forms of rhyming. I'm not really afraid of poetry, though. -Matthew V.
I think that poetry is awesome! I like how you can write freely. I would like to learn how to write poetry better. I would also learn how to make my poems more meaningful, and make the reader think deeply about the poem's meaning. I don't fear anything about poetry.
Nic- I think that poetry really shows the character of a person. I think that poetry is a creative use of words. I hope to learn how to write a free-verse poem. I don't dread or fear anything about poetry.
I enjoy poetry and think that it is a way for everyone to understand each other. I hope to learn more about myself, the art of poetry, and how to understand it better than ever before, I dread memorizing the poem but I understand that the reward is worth it. Daniel T.
I like most poetry, but some poets can be dull or confusing. I want to be able to learn about poets that write things that interest me. I do not fear poetry, but I wish that I understood more about poems!
Kate- I do not enjoy some poetry. I despise long poems that keep rambling on and on, with huge, fluffy words. I like short poems, that cut straight to the point, without big, descriptive, confusing words. I hope I can learn how to write really short, meaningful poems that makes people stop and think. I am scared of having to read super lengthy poems, and then talking about them. I do not like talking about poetry. There are too many meanings.
When I think of poetry I think of it as an expression of feelings because you can write anything you would like. I dread having to get a poem to rhyme. I really hope to learn how to write interesting good rhyming poetry. -Lily
I think that poetry is difficult in every aspect. There are always hidden messages or hidden methods in a poem. I hope to learn some of these messages/methods in our poetry unit. The only thing I fear about poetry is how it sounds so frightening and important, which refrains me from accessing the full potential of the poem.
I enjoy poetry because it lets you express your self and it is a way of showing people how you feel. Poetry can be fun and lets you use whatever format you want.
I enjoy poems that make me laugh or give me a strong thought that sticks with me for awhile. I hope to find my favorite poem because I don't have one currently. I dread writing poems about a strict topic. -Darcy
Poetry is a creative way to express an idea and a way to provoke thought and feeling. I am not intimidated by poetry, but I find it difficult to sometimes understand the message the poet is attempting to explain. I hope to learn how to write a poem that provokes feeling.
